Through the Mist
Remember how I said it looks like the city is on fire?
This was venting from either an underground parking garage or the subway stop nearby, and it made the street look like a scene from a movie.

Steam
I’m always fascinated by the relative dangers of the streets in New York - you’ve got a city literally powered by steam, where manholes can explode (it happened on the block where my old job was), the sewer systems expel steam, and we have tanks of liquid nitrogen on random corners (I’m still not clear what those are for).
Anyway, I asked the security guys who were controlling traffic near the WTC construction site if I could stand off to the side and take pictures, they said ok and I got this one.
